A font is a design for a set of characters.


Serif- a more decorative type of font with flourishes at the end of strokes, like handwriting, that make up letters and symbols. 



Where as... 


San Serif- does not have any flourishes at the end of fonts a more business type font.


Different fonts and colours are used depending on the different target audiences of the magazines. This is because, both together and on their own, the font and colour can illustrate a certain theme.

A complementary colour is a given colour that is placed exactly opposite of another E.g RED and GREEN.

Anagalous colour are three colours on the colour wheel which are next to each other E.g PURPLE RED ORANGE.

A Masthead is the main title of the magazine for example, 



Main cover lines are short sentences on the cover that tell the describe to the audience whats inside the magazine.




The Left Third or the Right 2/3 rd - 

The right 2/3rd is used as a way of allowing the customer to see what the contents of the magazine are without picking it up. 















Barcodes and Dates are displayed so that the customer knows when the magazine was released and whether it could be last weeks issue. The barcodes are used for the provider as they can keep track of the popular magazines that are being bought.
